What are you famous for?

I had a little extra time this week so I thougth I'd try out a new recipe.  Yesterday Emma and I made some caramel corn.  I've never made it before, but the recipe seemed easy enough.  Its getting close to that time of year when you need little Fall or Christmas gifts for teachers, neighbors, etc.   I know all you Mom's out there know what I mean.  I thought it might be nice to come up with something that would work well in a cute tin or jar that I could give away.  Hence, the caramel corn.  It turned out pretty good.   But I'm not sure it's gift worthy.

Everyone knows someone who is famous for their _______ (fill in the blank).

Example:

My Grannie Hazel is famous for her everything. (Aren't ALL Grannies?)

Bad example.

My friend Billie is famous for her brownies.
My mother-in-law is famous for her lasagna.  Whenever she comes to visit, she brings a pan with her.
My friend Natalie is famous for her pound cake.
My dad is famous for his peanut brittle.

Every year right around Christmas, a neighbor of my parents makes and brings them a cheese ball.  Its the same recipe every year.  My dad LOVES it.  He looks forward to it.  It wouldn't seem like Christmas without the cheese ball.

Unfortunately, I am famous for NOTHING!  I find myself wishing that I could find a recipe that IS gift worthy.

It is fun trying out new recipes.  Emma really likes to help in the kitchen, and its great for us to have something we enjoy doing together.  So I guess we'll keep trying.  In the meantime, I'll enjoy the time with my little baker-in-training.  Maybe we'll eventually find that one special recipe.

After thinking about this, it made me start to wonder...

What are YOU famous for?  I'd love to know!

I think the caramel corn looks awesome and totally gift worthy. If you need recipes for goodies...I have a huge collection. I should have brought you some birthday brownies on Wednesday night!

I'm famous for the christmas turtles I make and give to my neighbors. They're so easy and they get rave reviews.

I like to give homemade cinnamon rolls to my neighbors at Christmas. In the non-Christmas category, I'm famous for my banana pudding.

Fun post!

Mmmmm....Natalie's pound cake...mmmmmm....

I am thinking that you and Kim are famous for those tasty treats you made last Thanksgiving. Mmmmmm....

I guess I'm "famous" for my chocolate chip scones. Does it mean they are famous if people ask for them again?

I'd love to try your dad's p-nut brittle. Neal's dad makes it too and I love it!

Your post has gotten lots of comments!! Great discussion topic!
